How are regulators using data to improve regulatory outcomes in the UK?


Our latest research explored how UK regulators are using data to inform regulation; the challenges faced; and what makes a difference on the journey to data-informed, risk-based regulation.

According to our findings, regulators have a strong awareness of the benefits that good use of data can deliver. And across the UK, there are some great examples of innovative regulators using data to achieve better regulatory outcomes for the communities they serve.

This report provides five key insights and 12 case studies from a series of qualitative interviews and survey responses to help answer: 

  • How are different regulators making better use of data?
  • What improvements in outcomes are they achieving?
  • What challenges are they facing?
  • How are they improving the data maturity of their organisation?
