2020 RegTech Awards Recognise Itree & Government Joint Social Innovation

Protecting children from abuse by sharing sensitive information efficiently between State government agencies

March 2020

On the cusp of further worldwide government restrictions taking effect, what was originally planned for Doltone House in Pyrmont, Sydney, the KPMG sponsored 2020 RegTech Awards Ceremony quickly pivoted to become a global virtual event, attended from Melbourne, to London, to Chicago, to Sydney. The award nominees, judging panel and other guest speakers convened using collaboration technology for the announcement of the 2020 winners.

Nominated as a finalist in the category of Social Impact of the Year, with an incredibly strong field of finalists, Itree (now Objective) was humbled to be praised so highly, taking home the trophy in recognition of the REACH solution, protecting children from abuse by sharing sensitive information efficiently between State government agencies. The 2020 Award Winners were announced to participant sponsored remote drumroll, with Itree CEO, Ben Hobby, joining for some on-virtual-stage remarks. “Becoming part of the RegTech family only just over a year ago, felt like we had found our 'tribe’. I want to advocate the stellar co-ordinated effort of the entire Itree team, working in parallel with some amazing public servants in State agencies, that truly have the protection of vulnerable children at the heart of their daily passion."

Deborah Young, CEO of The RegTech Association, commented on the award: "Congratulations to Ben and the team from Itree, a fantastic regional NSW RegTech success story. The RegTech Social Impact of the Year 2020 was our inaugural acknowledgement that RegTech does build trust and security across all regulated verticals. Itree was chosen by our judging panel as being the outstanding leader with their Reach Child Protection Intelligence System that supports Australia's National Plan to reduce violence against women and children. Their fellow finalists were an outstanding cohort of RegTech solutions that are impacting our society in so many positive ways.”

The REACH solution is currently being implemented with all State-based child protection agencies, supported by the Federal Government.
