Victorian Disability Worker Commission to strengthen regulatory oversight with Objective RegWorks

The Commission exists to protect one of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities: people with disability.

Since the Disability Worker Regulation Scheme started on 1 July 2020, the Victorian Disability Worker Commission and Disability Worker Registration Board of Victoria have operated to protect people with disability and build a stronger, safer disability sector.

The Commission’s role is to regulate disability workers providing services to people with disability in Victoria to minimise harm, increase the quality of disability services provided by workers, and support service users to choose high quality, safe workers.

Aging systems need replacing

Faced with a Case Management System (CMS) nearing end-of-life , the Commission went to market looking to replace it with a modern, fit-for-purpose regulatory system.

The Commission currently relies on the legacy CMS to deliver and manage core regulatory functions such as:

  • managing disability worker compliance, including complaints
  • registration of disability workers and registration renewal
  • maintaining a public register of disability workers and prohibition orders.
