Mail Gateway
The Objective Xlink - Mail Gateway enables users to distribute documents stored in Objective to internal and external users via MAPI and SMTP compliant mail systems using a number of different user interface paradigms.
Objective users can select an object and drag the object over a user's icon to launch a new email message with a Reference to the object. When the user receives the email, they can double-click on the email reference to locate the object within Objective.
Alternatively, the user may select the "Send Reference To" and "Send Copy To" menu items to send documents to users either defined Objective users or external users (identified by email address).
Other client-based functions serviced by the mail gateway include review notification and notifying the requester for Records based request functions (e.g. File Creation, File Part Creation, and Requests).
This service also enables notifications to be sent via e-mail for Approvals, Publication, Requests, and Workflow functions. Where a user has a defined e-mail address, the server will send notification (via email) that: they have a Task to perform; an alarm has fired; they have Documents that need approval, a new version of a document has been published, or a File has been requested.
